The problem often appears after the click
An ad report can show a form or phone call. It cannot tell an owner whether the lead was reached, quoted, won, and paid. If that trail disappears between the phone system, customer records, job software, and accounting, the business may spend money on activity that does not create revenue.
Follow a real lead through every handoff
Start with a few real leads. Follow each one from the ad and first contact through the appointment, quote, sale, completed work, and payment. Write down every place someone must type the same information again. That is often where the trail breaks.
Agree on which information everyone will use
No single program needs to hold everything. But the business does need a clear link between the original lead and the customer or job that produced revenue. Agree on who maintains that link and how each lead is identified.
Fix operations before increasing spend
- Confirm calls and forms create usable records.
- Make response time and follow-up easy to check.
- Connect won work to collected revenue when practical.
- Send completed sales back to marketing reports only after someone checks the information.
